"One Mission One Sisterhood Empowering Communities Through Committed Service"
Delta GEMS
The Tallahassee Alumnae Chapter began the Delta Teen Challenge Program in October 1991. The Program was designed to challenge and motivate adolescents and teenage girls to achieve their maximum potential academically, socially, morally, and personally. Focus areas include Personal Development, Social Graces, Health and Sex Education, Career Development, and Cultural Enhancement. The young ladies participate in service projects to give them a civic orientation. They also have fund-raisers for their annual trip. Through an initiative from the National President the name has been changed to Delta GEMS.
The Delta GEMS Cotillion is, in essence, an awards program that highlights the achievements of these young ladies throughout the year. All participants must meet a minimum GPA requirement to participate in the cotillion. While a select group, must meet a higher GPA requirement in order to compete for our two most prestigious awards, Miss Delta GEMS and Miss Scholarship (which requires the submission of an essay on the importance of education.)
